A Sri Lankan aboard the MSC Magnifica Cruise Ship who sought to return to the country has been retrieved from the vessel, the Sri Lanka Navy said Monday.
Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority General (Rtd.) Daya Ratnayake said the person has been sent for quarantining in the country.
Recently, Anura Bandara, who had been employed on the ship, had requested the Sri Lankan government to bring him back to the country.
A team of navy officers had been dispatched to bring back the person to the country, Navy spokesman Lieutenant General Isuru Suriyabandara said.
The MSC Magnifica Cruise Ship, which began its journey on January 5 and is heading towards Italy with 2700 passengers on board, arrived at the Colombo Port for refueling today.
